Ocean Pioneer Shipping Co., Ltd (OPSC). was formally established in January 1965 at the capital city of Taipei, TAIWAN with a capitalization of NT$9 million.  The main business operation of the Company was to provide  comprehensive shipping agency services in Taiwan for foreign ship-owners/ Operators (liners and bulk vessels)  who wish to participate in the carriage of cargo to and from Taiwan.    In the early 1970's , in order to provide more reliable and quality services to the ship-owners/operators and the shippers, the Company established its own port branches office at the main ports of Kaohsiung, Keelung, and Taichung.

The Company was in good position and able to contribute to as well as benefit from the rapid growth in Taiwan's economy and foreign trade during the decades of the 1960's through 1990's.  In time, OPSC became one of the leading and respected shipping agencies in Taiwan ; well-known and appreciated by shipping circles world-wide for its reliability, efficiency, and integrity.

During past 4 decades the Company has been the Taiwan sole agents for world renown liner shipping companies such as Cie. Maritime de Chargeur Reunis (CMCR), Franco-Belgian Service (FBS),  Cia. Sud-Americana de Vapores (CSAV), Transportes Navieros Ecuatorianos (TNE), DELMAS, and Hyundai Merchant Marine Co., Ltd.  (HMM).  However during the late 1990's and early 2000's due to drastic changes in the operating environment of the shipping industry, some of these liner services ceased operation or were merged by other companies, while the others established their own branch offices/operations in Taiwan.

In addition to liner agency , OPSC has always been very active in the non-liner or tramp vessel agency and brokerage sector since the company started in 1965.   In the early stages,  it mainly  involved vessels in the grain trade; but, later came to include metals/homogenous cargoes.  Among such carriers/operators  served by OPSC in Taiwan are Metall Und Rohstoff (MUR) and the bulk cargo division of HMM.

Since Ronald Chen took helm of the Company as the Chairman of the Board in 2008, he has strived to enhance and diversify the business operations of the Company as well as up-grade and standardize the Company's output and performance.  In this respect, OPSC has acquired ISO 9001 certification (AFNOR) in April 2011.    Accordingly it is the goal and endeavor of all the staffs of OPSC to provide the quality and optimum services to all our current and potential customers in liner and bulk vessels agency operations, freight forwarding,  logistics and related businesses.
